With a Master Degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies (University of Pavia, 2021), Gaia Sarcinelli started her professional experience at the IRCCS National Cancer Institute of Milan (INT) where she investigated the role of glycerophospho and glycosphingolipids in the context of peritoneal metastasis from colorectal cancer, in order to identify new therapeutic strategies.

In 2023 she joined Dr. Lovisa’s laboratory at Humanitas Research Hospital as a fellow researcher and the as a PhD student. Here, at the Plasticity, Fibrosis and Cancer Lab, she is focusing on the role of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in the onset of colitis-associated cancer (CAC) arising from chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
