Federica received her master degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at Università degli Studi di Milano in October 2020 and she consequently obtained the professional qualification of pharmacist in the same year. After a thesis internship in the laboratory of Dr Sara Francesca Colombo at the Institute of Neuroscience – CNR, where she studied the use of fluorescent ligands to monitor the trafficking of nicotinic receptors, Federica approached the world of neuroscience at Humanitas Research Hospital in April 2021. She worked as research fellow in the laboratory of Cell Biology of the Synapse led by Dr Matteo Fossati, where she investigated the role of the early secretory pathway in synapse development and function.

In November 2022 she has been enrolled in the PhD program in Molecular and Experimental Medicine at Humanitas University, where she is currently working on pathogenic mechanisms underlying a neurodevelopmental disorder of genetic origin, the Angelman Syndrome. In particular, she is investigating alterations of the interplay between two post-translational modifications, namely ubiquitination and sumoylation in this pathology.
