Alberto obtained a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering in 2006 at the University of Parma and a Master Degree in Bioinformatics in 2008 at the University of Bologna. He then achieved a Master Course in Applied Medical Statistics in 2011 and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Regenerative Medicine in 2012, both at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. Later, he obtained several online specializations on Coursera: Data Science (Johns Hopkins University), Genomic Data Science (Johns Hopkins University), Big Data (University of California, San Diego) and Deep Learning ( From 2012 to 2016 he worked as a Data Scientist and Bioinformatician at the European Institute of Oncology (Milan). In 2016 he moved to Humanitas Research Hospital (Milan) in the laboratory of Transcriptional and Epigenetic Control in Inflammation and Cancer. In 2018 he joined the Bioinformatics Unit. He mainly work on the analysis and integration of next-generation sequencing data (ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq) and analysis pipelines development. He contributed to several scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and awarded an F1000Prime Recommendation Award for “Integrating Omics data for signaling pathways, interactome reconstruction, and functional analysis” included in “Bioinformatics for Omics Data” (Methods Mol. Biol. 2011).
